Kratie & Turong Island Gallery
Kratie is a sleepy provincial capital on the east bank of the Mekong a little more than half way between Phnom Penh and Stung Treng to the north.
It’s a great base to begin a day trip up to Kampi deep water pools some 15kms north and observe the Irrawaddy dolphins in their natural surroundings or simply to cross the river by ferry boat and walk or cycle around Koh Trong Island situated opposite Kratie city.
On the east bank of the Mekong the sunsets are as regular as clock work and well worth it. The hustle and bustle shifts from the market in the center of town to the edges of the river at the end of the day for food and refreshments.
